Initially Mark Gildner, from North Carolina, set up a camera to film a time lapse of storm clouds rolling in.
But he was surprised to find he had actually caught the construction of a web (pictured) on camera instead Orbweaver spiders eat their webs at the end of the night and re-digest the proteins so they can spin a new one the next day.'I would guess this is why the spider doesn't try to repair the damages caused by capturing its prey,' Mr Gildner said.'Orbweavers aren't an aggressive species to humans, but I was still glad she didn't decide to use my camera as an anchor point for her web; I wouldn't have wanted to disturb her.'Generally noctural, the spotted orbweaving spider is found across much of North America, particularly in late summer and early autumn.
The camel spider is in the same group as arachnids, but isn't a true spider.
Though the animals appear to have 10 legs, they actually have eight - the two extra leg-like appendages are sensory organs called pedipalps.
The orb-shaped web is very large and is often constructed on buildings and other man-made structures, especially near outdoor lights.
The orb part of the web may be nearly 2 feet (0.61 m) in diameter, and is used to capture small insects.
And with powerful pinchers and large jaws, it is actually closer in relation to scorpions than spiders.
